Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shop Foreman to join our team at Walashek Industrial & Marine Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and performing repairs and servicing equipment, as well as directing and evaluating the work of junior technicians.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate inventory of tools and materials
  • Perform vehicle inspections and ensure maintenance is accomplished as required
  • Diagnose and repair shop equipment as needed
  • Train and mentor junior technicians in tool usage and repair procedures
  • Coordinate work among all trades to ensure efficient allocation of resources
  • Manage and maintain a safe work environment, performing regular inspections and ensuring adherence to regulations
  • Purchase necessary parts for repairs and possess knowledge of repair procedures and basic computer software
Work Environment

This role operates in a professional office and shop environment, with occasional work on job sites. The employee will be frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud, and the employee must wear hearing, eye, and head protection, as well as proper PPE, when required.

Physical Demands

The physical demands of this role include regular talking or hearing, frequent standing, walking, and use of hands to handle or feel objects. The employee may occasionally sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Requirements
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Valid driver's license
  • Forklift driver certification (preferred)
  • Brazing certification
  • Pipefitting and welding knowledge
  • Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic component systems
  • Ability to understand and administer OSHA, ABS Classification guidelines, USCG, NAVSEA, and SOLAS requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • High performance and a strong team player
  • Ability to work under deadlines and schedule pressures
