Role Summary:
We are in search of empathetic, dedicated, mission-focused Counselors to deliver therapeutic services to both adults and children engaged with the dependency system. This role entails the implementation of psychotherapeutic principles and methodologies. Counselors will provide in-home therapy and additional support services, including assistance with substance use issues, to help families maintain custody of their children or achieve successful reunification. This is a field-based role.
Directions for Living is a provider of essential services. All employees are expected to be prepared to deliver critical support and services to those we serve during emergencies, pandemics, or other crisis situations.
- A Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related discipline with a minimum of one year of relevant experience required. Experience in substance use or mental health counseling is preferred. (Compensation is based on verified clinical experience).
- Must possess adequate clinical expertise to deliver interventions for adults and children presenting a variety of psychological challenges, employing diverse treatment modalities including individual, family, play, and group therapy, as well as understanding normal childhood development.
- Must have a solid foundation in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT, and other evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
- Must develop familiarity with community resources.
- Experience working with families and children is essential.
