We are seeking a compassionate and mission-driven Counselor to provide therapy to adults and children who are active clients of the dependency system. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in counseling, Social Work, or a related field, with a minimum of one year of experience in substance abuse/mental health counseling.
The Counselor will work in a field-based position, providing in-home therapy and other services to assist families in retaining their children in the home or to effect successful reunification. Directions for Living is an essential services provider, and all employees must be willing and able to provide vital support and essential services to the people we serve in emergency, pandemic, or disaster situations.
Responsibilities- Provide clinical intervention with adults and children who manifest a range of psychopathology, utilizing various treatment approaches including individual, family, play, and group therapy.
- Develop and implement treatment plans that address the unique needs of each client and family.
- Collaborate with other professionals, including social workers, case managers, and medical professionals, to ensure comprehensive care.
- Acquire knowledge of community resources and provide referrals as needed.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices in the field.
Requirements
- Master's degree in counseling, Social Work, or a related field.
- Minimum one year of experience in substance abuse/mental health counseling.
- Strong clinical knowledge and skills, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT, and other evidence-based treatments.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
