The Facilities Management division at West Virginia University is looking for candidates for the position of Campus Facilities Supervisor.

Position Overview

As a Campus Facilities Supervisor, your role will involve delivering a range of support services aimed at upholding the aesthetic quality of institutional buildings and the surrounding grounds. This position requires adherence to established protocols, techniques, and safety standards, with some discretion needed to interpret instructions. You will be responsible for assigning and overseeing work tasks based on operational requirements.

The Facilities Management division consists of two essential units that contribute significantly to the University’s mission. Our teams are composed of skilled professionals dedicated to maintaining, safeguarding, and enhancing the University’s infrastructure. Facilities Management ensures that all aspects of the campus environment are secure and satisfactory for employees, students, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the interior cleanliness of all facilities, including classrooms, offices, laboratories, and public areas through various cleaning methods such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting.
  • Ensure the exterior appearance of buildings is well-kept by removing debris, cleaning gutters, and managing snow and ice removal.
  • Utilize various hand and power tools to complete daily tasks effectively.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties such as replacing light bulbs, unclogging drains, and assembling furniture as necessary.
  • Assist management in supervising and guiding campus service workers in their operational tasks, including training new hires and ensuring compliance with departmental policies.
  • Collect and dispose of waste and litter throughout institutional facilities.
  • Manage access to buildings by locking and unlocking as directed.
  • Participate in training sessions and meetings to stay updated on safety protocols and new techniques.
Pay Grade: PG10

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of six (6) months of experience in commercial cleaning procedures, including restroom maintenance and floor care, as well as experience with custodial equipment.
  • Experience in training others on the use of commercial cleaning equipment is preferred.
  • Ability to develop cleaning schedules and effectively train others in safe operational practices.
  • Proficient in reading and writing in English and performing basic math calculations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with supervisors and team members.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately.
  • Capability to quickly learn custodial and groundskeeping methods and safety principles.
  • Ability to operate various labor-supporting and custodial equipment.
  • Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting heavy items and working in varying environmental conditions.
  • Commitment to maintaining attendance and punctuality standards.
