Position Overview:

UPMC is seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist to provide exceptional respiratory care services. This role involves working under the supervision of a physician to deliver life-supporting therapies to patients with cardiopulmonary challenges.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate patient conditions by reviewing prescriptions, measuring arterial blood gases, and analyzing medical history to determine necessary treatment protocols.
  • Administer inhalation therapies and medications in accordance with physician directives, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Assist in the transport of patients requiring mechanical ventilation and respond promptly to emergency situations.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, documenting therapy details and patient responses.
  • Oversee the functionality of respiratory equipment, conducting regular inspections and adjustments to optimize treatment outcomes.
  • Educate and supervise trainees and students in respiratory care techniques and procedures.
  • Perform diagnostic tests such as pulmonary function assessments to aid in clinical evaluations.

Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a degree from a CoARC accredited respiratory therapy program and hold a valid Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license in Pennsylvania. Certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) is also required. Candidates should have current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification, along with any additional certifications relevant to neonatal and pediatric care.


Work Schedule:

This position requires availability for night shifts, including every third weekend and alternating holidays.
