Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our Pulmonary Diagnostics team at UPMC. As a key member of our team, you will provide respiratory therapy services and life support to patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies under physician direction.

Responsibilities
  • Administer high-risk therapies, such as Nitric Oxide and Tracheal Gas Insufflation, in various settings, including the OR, ED, and Cath Lab.
  • Conduct bronchoscopy, ABG lab troubleshooting, pulmonary function tests, breath alcohol testing, EEG, EKG, stress testing, and 24-hour Holter monitoring.
  • Monitor patient responses to therapy, perform bronchopulmonary drainage, and assist with breathing exercises.
  • Maintain patient charts, order repairs, and demonstrate procedures to trainees and healthcare personnel.
  • Supervise students and assist in transporting mechanically ventilated patients.
  • Evaluate medical orders and interpret clinical data to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Set up and operate respiratory therapy equipment, ensuring safe and efficient function.
  • Act as Lead Respiratory Therapist in the absence of the Supervisor or Manager, providing problem-solving, training, and technique demonstration.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a Co ARC approved Respiratory program.
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • Basic Life Support or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
