Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing routine and specialized diagnostic imaging procedures, providing support assistance as needed, and collaborating with licensed medical practitioners to ensure accurate and effective patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine diagnostic imaging procedures using technical expertise of equipment and procedure protocol.
  • Evaluate equipment performance, initiate corrective action when necessary, and maintain records for the quality control program of gamma camera imaging systems.
  • Collaborate patient's clinical history with procedure, ensuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed independent practitioner.
  • Complete and verify accurate informed consents.
  • Maintain established radiation safety standards, practicing techniques that will minimize radiation exposure to the patient, healthcare personnel, and general public.
  • Knowledgeable and proficient in the safe handling, security, and storage of radiopharmaceuticals, including procurement, identification, dose calculation, and administration.
  • Proficient in the documentation and record keeping as regulated and required by the State, Joint Commission, ACR, and NRC.
  • Obtain biological samples to perform testing as required for the optimization of patient care and quality of diagnostic procedures.
  • Provide education, training, and orientation to new staff members, as well as assist in quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements
  • Must have successfully completed an educational program accredited by a mechanism acceptable to the NMTCB or ARRT.
  • Registry eligible candidates must have documentation of training/competency checklist, authorization to inject radiopharmaceuticals notice signed by an authorized user, and state licensure in accordance with Tennessee guidelines.
