Job Summary

Zoox is seeking a highly experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead the development of our Robot Software Infrastructure team. This team is responsible for building the runtime configuration systems that ensure seamless operation of our autonomous vehicles.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in operating system internals, Linux containerization, and software build and update systems. They will also have excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage a growing team and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about robotics and autonomous driving, and who is committed to building a team that is diverse, inclusive, and innovative.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of the Robot Software Infrastructure team, including kernel selection, configuration, and device driver updates.
  • Develop system services, OS build tools, and installation tools.
  • Implement OS security features and define modes and mechanisms to control software and hardware configurations.
  • Enable adaptive runtime behavior for various scenarios and manage hardware-in-the-loop continuous integration (HIL and CI) infrastructure.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience managing teams that deliver production-level software.
  • Proven success in hiring, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong cross-functional project management experience and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of operating system internals.
  • Familiarity with Linux containerization, filesystems, networking, software build and update systems.
  • Proficiency in languages like C or C++ and scripting languages like Bash or Python.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Expertise in GPU hardware and software architecture.
  • Experience with robotics or autonomous driving technologies.
  • Graduate degree with a focus on networking, operating systems, or computer security.
Compensation

Zoox offers a comprehensive package of benefits, including paid time off, unpaid time off, Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights, Amazon RSUs, health insurance, long-term care insurance, long-term and short-term disability insurance, and life insurance.

The salary range for this position is $210,000 to $303,000, and a sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package.

Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level.
