Position Summary:

We are currently seeking a Portfolio Manager to enhance the growth of an assigned portfolio by effectively managing client relationships throughout the lending process. This role involves continuous monitoring of portfolios to maintain asset quality and uphold customer service standards. The Portfolio Manager will be accountable for fostering client relationships and driving organic sales while ensuring compliance with the bank's policies and standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitates the lending and sales process, working independently or in collaboration with Senior Lenders during client meetings.
  • Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of complex lending opportunities, enabling effective screening and underwriting.
  • Prepares detailed memos and oversees the underwriting process for new deals and renewals.
  • Works closely with internal teams, including commercial credit analysts, appraisal services, and loan administration.
  • Coordinates with external legal counsel to draft loan documentation.
  • Ensures adherence to credit policies, guidelines, and regulatory standards.
  • Regularly reviews portfolio performance, tracking overdue accounts, exceptions, and upcoming loan maturities.
  • Collects necessary information for renewals and provides informed recommendations for these accounts.
  • Monitors and reports on any deteriorating credit conditions.
  • Engages in risk assessment and suggests necessary adjustments.
  • Ensures all departmental activities and documentation comply with relevant laws, regulations, and policies, including mandatory compliance training.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

This role requires a diverse skill set, including:

A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, coupled with five to seven years of relevant experience as a credit analyst, commercial lender, or portfolio manager. Experience should reflect the ability to resolve increasingly complex issues and manage staff resources. Experience with Farm Credit or advanced degrees is preferred.
  • Proficient in managing a commercial lending portfolio valued at $250MM or more, whether working as part of a team or independently.
  • Skilled in interpreting various documents, including procedural manuals, business correspondence, and government regulations.
  • Adept at reading, understanding, and interpreting financial and legal documents.
  • Experienced in crafting comprehensive reports and business communications.
  • Capable of addressing written inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory bodies, or the business sector.
  • Proficient in presenting data effectively to stakeholders, including customers, colleagues, and management.
  • Competent in sharing information and responding to inquiries from larger audiences, including managers and board members.
