Position Summary: Responsible for the inspection, troubleshooting, repair, operation, servicing, and modification of various facility equipment, including abrasive blast systems and components such as compressors, electric motors, pumps, valves, and other mechanical parts. The goal is to maintain large equipment and systems at optimal operational levels, swiftly identify and rectify malfunctions, and conduct maintenance with minimal disruption to production schedules. This involves the removal, disassembly, cleaning, lubrication, repair, reassembly, and reinstallation of components such as pumps, motors, controllers, compressors, burners, and valves. A solid understanding of troubleshooting, aligning, adjusting, servicing, and repairing large industrial equipment is essential, along with knowledge of tools and equipment used in this trade. The ability to respond effectively to emergency maintenance issues and adjust priorities as necessary is crucial. A State of Kansas Backflow and Cross Connection certification is required.
Key Responsibilities: Identify and address issues affecting equipment performance, ensuring the functionality of systems responsible for air cooling, heating, filtering, or circulation. Conduct comprehensive troubleshooting and repair tasks for industrial air conditioning units, heat pumps, gas-fired boilers, split ventilation systems, and air drying systems. Diagnose malfunctions, disassemble, repair, replace, or adjust various controls and devices. Conduct system bleeding, refrigerant replacement, and leak testing. Monitor and test heating and cooling systems to identify malfunctions in automatic controls, piping, pumps, and related components. Perform inspections and necessary adjustments or repairs on thermostats, governors, switches, and safety devices. Certification as a 'Technician Type Universal' and knowledge of ventilation and air conditioning systems are required.
Maintenance and Compliance: Test, inspect, and maintain electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems to ensure proper operation and compliance with technical orders, manufacturer guidelines, and safety regulations. This requires a working knowledge of various building systems, methods, and tools, as well as skills in repairing piping and removing harmful residues.
Preventative Maintenance: Execute preventative maintenance tasks in accordance with technical data and local procedures to prolong the lifespan of equipment and systems. This includes lubricating and repacking valves, correcting equipment misalignments, and servicing various components. Proficiency in using test equipment, hand and power tools, and other necessary equipment is required.
Additional Responsibilities: Inspect, maintain, repair, and install structural and mechanical components of roll-up doors and overhead hoists. Provide leadership in lawn mower repair and maintenance as needed. Operate Federal Government vehicles for transporting materials and personnel, adhering to speed limits and possessing a valid driver's license.
Qualifications:
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with two years of training and/or experience in building or industrial maintenance and repair, including one year in building systems such as electrical, plumbing, and HVAC. Minimum Qualifications: Physical ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 100 pounds, capability to work at heights, and normal color vision are required. Additional Requirements: The incumbent may be subject to occasional recall for emergency work and overnight travel.Proficiency in using tools and operating equipment commonly used in building systems maintenance is essential. Knowledge of safety hazards and necessary precautions in operating and maintaining mechanical and electrical equipment is required.
Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements: A valid Driver's License and the ability to qualify for a military driver's license are mandatory. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Security Clearance is also required.
