  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and differentiated learning approaches to ensure all students in the self-contained classroom have access to the 7th-grade curriculum.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, administrators, paraprofessionals, and parents to create a cohesive Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each student.
  • Monitor student progress, analyze data, and report on the effectiveness of instruction to inform ongoing lesson plans and interventions for the self-contained classroom.
  • Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that promotes academic achievement, social-emotional development, and independence for students in the 7th-grade self-contained classroom.
  • Advocate for students' rights and inclusion, fostering a positive school culture that celebrates diversity in learning styles within the self-contained classroom.
  • Stay up-to-date on best practices in special education and curriculum development, and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in supporting students in a self-contained classroom setting.

Qualifications:

  • Illinois State Teaching License with a Special Education endorsement.
  • Prior experience working with students with diverse learning needs in a self-contained classroom setting, preferably at the middle school level, is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and differentiated instruction practices in a self-contained special education classroom.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement engaging and effective lesson plans specifically tailored to the needs of students in a 7th-grade self-contained classroom.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with students of all abilities, parents, and school staff.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and supportive learning environment that promotes respect and inclusion for all students within the self-contained classroom setting.
  • Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting on student progress in the self-contained classroom.
