As a Production Operator 2, you'll play a key role in ensuring the right levels of HSE, Quality, Service, and costs are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in safety programs and perform daily checklists and 5S participation.
  • Operate highly sophisticated equipment under general supervision.
  • Take ownership of production assets and ensure they're operated safely and as per established procedures, guidelines, and industry best practice.
  • Perform daily production, preventative maintenance, process data collection, and administration tasks as per procedures and control systems.
  • Report safety, quality, or other issues related to products or production processes to Team Leader/Shift Supervisor.
  • Ensure all production targets are met while maintaining appropriate quality standards.
  • Issue CAR or Hazard report when relevant issues are noticed, regardless of location or responsible department.
  • Provide progress updates to Team Leader/Shift Supervisor.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings.
  • Contribute to the investigation of HSE or quality issues for customer complaints, reject batches, or other quality-related issues.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement activities and programs for HSE, Quality, ALPS, or other assigned tasks.
  • Familiarize yourself with and comply with all applicable corporate, site, and/or laboratory policies/procedures regarding personal conduct, HSE, and Product Safety and Regulatory Affairs (PRSA) standards.
  • Ensure proper collection of hazardous waste by marking, labeling, and closing hazardous waste containers.
  • Be prepared to contact the Emergency Coordinator in the event of discovering or causing a leak or spill.
  • Ensure proper filling, closing, marking, and labeling of bulk and non-bulk containers following applicable DOT requirements.
  • Responsible for the proper loading and unloading of bulk containers, including tank trucks and railcars, following applicable DOT requirements.

  • Must follow all PSM-related policies, procedures, and work instructions and follow all Emergency Action Plans.
  • Understand basic laws (RCRA) pertaining to hazardous waste generation, storage, transportation, and disposal.
  • Responsible for participating in process and batch improvement activities.
  • Participate in Management of Change (MOC), Incident Investigation, Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Pre-Start-up Safety Review (PSSR), Corrective and Prevention Action (CAPA) determination, and other safety-related committees and teams.

Job Requirements:

  • High School graduate or equivalent and at least 18 years of age.
  • Previous experience in a paint manufacturing facility.
  • Basic knowledge of chemistry and chemical processes.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and make decisions regarding trends, graphs, and charts.
  • Understand and perform basic functions of lab equipment.
  • Must have a mechanical aptitude with familiarity of general mechanic's tools.
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office with ability to collect and record data.
  • Proficient math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and ability to measure weights and volumes (standard and metric).
  • Ability to perform frequent and repetitive lifting of materials weighing up to 55 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, reach, and lift hoses, manipulate valves, operate/adjust equipment, stack pallets, climb ladders and stairs, and other related tasks.
  • Ability to work from heights up to 20-50 feet.
  • Must be able to use and function with PPE, including respirators, safety glasses, face shields, dust masks, and other PPE as required.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment, including but not limited to forklifts, forklift attachments, hoists, and pumps.
  • Ability to perform multiple duties and manage complex tasks in a properly prioritized manner and through effective use of time management and working safely.
  • Needs to possess strong communication skills to provide continuous process updates, receive and give direction, give thorough shift turnover meetings, etc.
  • The ability to work in a team environment and take ownership over an area of responsibility with limited direction using the ability to make informed decisions.
