Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with food preparation, including meal planning, food handling, and serving.
  • Follow established procedures for storing, serving, and transporting food and supplies.
  • Clean and sanitize equipment, utensils, and work areas to maintain a safe and healthy environment.
  • Deliver trays to patients and serve meals in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Prepare between-meal nourishments, such as sandwiches and snacks, and serve in accordance with established procedures.
  • Offer menu substitutions and record them in accordance with established procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff to provide excellent customer service.
Requirements
  • Clean tables in the dining area after each meal.
  • Clean work areas at the end of shift and after meals, including sweeping and mopping.
  • Remove garbage from kitchen areas and hose out garbage containers.
  • Comply with infection control policies in the work area.
  • Scrape dishes, wash dishes, pots, and pans.
  • Record freezer and walk-in refrigerator temperatures in accordance with established procedures.
  • Check stock as needed and store in an appropriate manner according to facility guidelines.
  • Store cleaning materials appropriately.
  • Set up tray line and perform tray line service.
  • Properly store leftovers and opened food.
  • Make coffee and tea as requested.
  • Clean kitchen equipment, such as carts, tables, counters, ice machine, buckets, blender, mixer, meat slicer, freezer, refrigerator, stove, steamer, garbage disposal, dish machine, coffee/tea maker, and steam table.
  • Operate the coffee and tea maker, dish machine, garbage disposal, mixer, blender, meat slicer, and steamer.
  • Follow standardized recipes.
  • Use serving equipment, such as ladles, spoons, and scoops.
  • Check and record water temperature in the dishwasher, pot and pan sink, etc.
  • Check the dishwasher with sanitizer strips.
  • Check chemical levels and replace as needed.
  • Participate in center/agency surveys and any subsequently required reports.
  • Attend and participate in continuing educational programs to maintain current licensure/certification, as required.
  • Attend and participate in mandatory in-services.
  • Honor patients' rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property, and civil rights, including the right to wage complaints.
  • Comply with corporate compliance program.
  • Report job-related functions/tasks that involve occupational hazards, including exposure to blood and body fluids.
  • Follow established safety regulations, including fire protection and prevention, smoking regulations, infection control, etc.
  • Follow established safety procedures when performing tasks and/or working with equipment.
