Key Responsibilities
  • Receives and relays internal and external calls and provides general information
  • Operates telephone software applications to route incoming calls and place outgoing calls
  • Operates the computerized system for patient transport, including answering calls, entering information into patient transport system, assigning Ambassadors, and clearing the task when complete
  • Dispatches patient transport and security staff as needed to the correct direction, including the use of proper radio etiquette to ensure accuracy
  • Maintains desk directories, on-call list, reference guides, and other associated reference materials
  • Receives and accurately prioritizes; distributes phone calls to providers and nursing staff as needed
  • Communicates codes, alerts, drills, and other announcements according to established policies and protocols, including disaster management plans
  • Proficient in all software applications specific to the Communications Department
  • Maintains work area in a clean and orderly fashion to ensure equipment is functional
Requirements
  • High School Diploma / GED (or higher)
  • Beginner level experience with computer and Windows PC applications, including the ability to navigate and learn new and complex computer system applications
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ years of experience in a related environment (i.e. office, administrative, clerical, customer service, etc.) using phones and computers as the primary job tools
  • Prior health care experience
Soft Skills
  • Demonstrated ability to listen skillfully, collect relevant information, build rapport and respond to customers in a compassionate manner
  • Proficient conflict management skills to resolve issues in a stressful situation
