About the Position
Hanover College seeks a visionary leader to serve as Chair of our Department of Art and Design. As a key member of our faculty, you will play a crucial role in shaping the department's curriculum, fostering a culture of creativity and innovation, and mentoring students to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan for the Department of Art and Design, aligning with the college's mission and goals.
- Lead and manage a team of faculty and staff, providing guidance, support, and resources to ensure the department's success.
- Teach and mentor students in graphic design, art history, and other related courses, promoting a student-centered approach to learning.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the college to develop interdisciplinary programs and initiatives, enhancing the student experience and promoting a culture of collaboration.
- Develop and manage budgets, ensuring effective allocation of resources to support departmental goals and initiatives.
- Represent the Department of Art and Design at college-wide events, conferences, and exhibitions, promoting the college's reputation and advancing the department's interests.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies, applying this knowledge to inform departmental decisions and initiatives.
Requirements
- MFA or other relevant terminal degree.
- Commitment to employing inclusive pedagogy and valuing diversity of student identities, scholarship, learning, and creative performance.
- Evidence of creative accomplishments and a strong track record of teaching and mentoring students.
- College-level teaching experience and a proven ability to develop and implement effective curricula.
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
