Ophthalmic Assistant

Job Summary

As a Medical Scribe for American Vision Partners, you will work closely with our ophthalmologists and surgeons to document patient information and gather medical data. Your role will involve coding and documenting dictated information into the patient's electronic medical record, reviewing patient visit details, and ensuring the smooth flow of patient care.

Responsibilities

• Document patient information and medical data into the electronic medical record
• Review patient visit details and preliminary work-up completed by Ophthalmic Technicians
• Fulfill patient rooms as needed
• Review provider schedules to confirm patient appointments
• Ensure patient visits flow smoothly with the provider
• Generate medication prescriptions as directed by the provider
• Communicate with patients regarding ophthalmic conditions and consent for procedures
• Perform pretests, including Goldmann Tonometry and extra-ocular muscle evaluation
• Communicate clinic flow concerns with facilitators and management

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• COA, COT preferred
• Ophthalmology experience is a plus
• General knowledge of clinical and surgical procedure requirements
• Strong computer skills
• Detail-oriented, reliable, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Flexible schedule working Monday through Friday
