Join the Bear Family Restaurants Team
The Area Operations Leader plays a pivotal role in fostering the growth and profitability of our restaurant locations. This position collaborates closely with a team of general managers to ensure adherence to our high standards of Quality, Service, Cleanliness, and Value (QSC&V), while achieving all operational, talent, and financial objectives.
Compensation:
$80,000 - $90,000 annually
(including numerous bonus opportunities and potential for career advancement)
Key Responsibilities:
- Guide a group of restaurants by partnering with general managers to surpass organizational goals in quality, service, cleanliness, and value.
- Ensure that assigned locations achieve all financial benchmarks, including sales, food costs, labor, and other controllable profit and loss elements.
- Implement and maintain Bear Family operational systems and routines, providing guidance and support to general managers as necessary.
- Identify operational challenges and supply resources to overcome these obstacles and enhance business performance.
- Act as a mentor to general managers, ensuring ongoing communication and the fulfillment of objectives.
- Recognize high-potential employees and assist general managers in their training and development, ensuring a pathway for successful growth.
- Exhibit a commitment to continuous improvement in all aspects of the role, from personal development to guest satisfaction.
- Communicate effectively across the organization in a clear and impactful manner, demonstrating strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Showcase excellent time management, organizational, and critical thinking abilities, modeling these skills for restaurant management teams.
- Adhere to and promote the people standards and policies outlined in the Employee Handbooks.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Manage routine calendar tasks associated with restaurant visits and periodic assessments.
- Handle email correspondence professionally and promptly.
- Conduct monthly food safety and cash audits at each restaurant.
- Allocate time regularly for personal development.
- Ensure operationally focused visits and conduct Business Results Days at each location.
- Facilitate monthly meetings for the region, increasing frequency as necessary.
- Conduct annual performance evaluations and collaborate with direct reports to set performance goals.
- Comply with all company policies regarding credit card usage and expense management.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a general manager in a fast-paced, high-volume quick-service restaurant or casual dining environment.
- Preferred: At least 1 year of experience as an operations supervisor overseeing multiple locations in a similar environment.
- Completion of Hamburger University training is required for former or relocating McDonald's general managers.
- Proven track record in driving sales, managing profit and loss, and enhancing guest satisfaction.
- Ability to teach and train alongside your team, leading by example.
- Open availability and flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the restaurant.
- Demonstrated time management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in P.O.S. systems and Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- A valid driver's license is required.
Additional Skills:
Proficiency in technology, including various restaurant and guest-facing systems, as well as basic MS Office and email applications.
Standards of Conduct:
- Area Operations Leaders must exemplify integrity and ethical behavior, setting the standard for their teams.
- They must represent Bear Family Restaurants ethically in all communications with guests, community members, vendors, and suppliers.
- Support and model all company policies and expectations as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
