Job Overview

Facilities Maintenance Technician

Gilmour Academy is seeking applications for immediate openings for Maintenance Technicians on both first and second shifts. The ideal candidates will possess expertise in HVAC systems, electrical work, and mechanical maintenance within facilities management. Candidates should have vocational training in electrical or mechanical technology and a minimum of four years of hands-on experience demonstrating the technical skills necessary to deliver exceptional service in general labor, grounds maintenance, event setups, and overall property care.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Exhibit strong active listening and effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Ensure that service requests and repairs are executed accurately and promptly.
  • Operate vehicles and maintenance equipment safely.
  • Promote positive public relations through constructive interactions with staff, students, parents, and the community.

Demonstrating a responsible and professional demeanor is essential. Adherence to state and local building codes as well as OSHA safety regulations is required.

Physical Requirements

This position necessitates the ability to climb ladders, scaffolds, and stairs. Candidates must be capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling various supplies and materials, with a maximum weight of 80 pounds. Work is often conducted outdoors in varying weather conditions. Regular physical activities include standing, reaching, stretching, crouching, stooping, kneeling, and climbing. Weekend coverage on a rotating basis is also required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Ohio driver's license.
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and maintenance equipment.
  • Completion of a background check in accordance with state law.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently.
  • Able to lift 80 pounds.
