Essential Qualifications

The Rehabilitation Therapist must possess:

A valid, unrestricted license in their respective therapy discipline.

Compliance with educational prerequisites for licensure.

A valid driver's license in the state of employment.

Familiarity with regulations, procedures, and guidelines pertaining to skilled nursing facilities.

Key Responsibilities

Designs, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates, and oversees the provision of rehabilitation therapy services and programs, adhering to current state and federal laws and regulations.

Coordinates the execution of therapy services in accordance with physician directives and guidelines set forth by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).

Monitors and reports on key performance indicators for the therapy department, establishing a system for ongoing evaluation.

Implements processes to effectively lead and direct the delivery of rehabilitation services, ensuring timely screening, evaluation, treatment, and documentation for residents.

Maintains compliance with facility policies regarding documentation, billing, and coding for therapy services.

Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss residents' therapy progress and discharge planning.

Ensures proper storage, use, and sanitation of therapy equipment.

Develops and nurtures positive relationships with residents, staff, and families through effective communication.

Promotes teamwork, respect, and effective communication within the facility.

Additional Responsibilities

Treats all residents with dignity and respect, safeguarding their rights.

Adheres to all facility policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with business conduct standards and regulations.

Participates in safety drills and training, fulfilling responsibilities during emergency situations.

Maintains confidentiality of protected health information and reports any breaches to appropriate personnel.

Patience and tact when dealing with residents, families, and staff.
