We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Physical Therapist Assistant to join our team at UMC Health System. As a Staff Physical Therapist Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation department.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care for patients referred to PM&R, following the plan of care and treatment developed by the Physical Therapist.
- Assist in the supervision and training of other PTAs and support personnel, as well as PTA students and volunteers.
- Complete daily documentation and charges, and schedule patients daily.
- Participate in clinical education by functioning as a Clinical Instructor for PTA students after 1 year of experience at UMC.
- Assist in the selection and retention of qualified candidates to meet the employment needs of the department.
- Provide two in-services annually.
- Graduate of an accredited Associates program for Physical Therapist Assistants.
- One year clinical experience preferred, entry level accepted.
- Must have or be eligible for a Texas State license.
- Ability to apply the theory of Physical Therapy under the bylaws of the Texas State Practice Act and the APTA Code of ethics.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to schedule around other services and departments.
The Physical Therapist Assistant will work in a fast-paced environment, providing care to patients in various settings. The ability to lift more than 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and work in a well-ventilated area is required. The Physical Therapist Assistant will also be exposed to communicable diseases and may come into contact with irritating chemicals or sprays.
