Job Summary

Herc-U-Lift, Inc. is seeking a skilled Field Service Technician to join our team. As a key member of our service and repair team, you will be responsible for traveling to customer locations and repairing their material handling equipment, MEWPs, and rail car movers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, or other breakdowns of material handling equipment.
  • Disassemble, repair, and reassemble engines, transmissions, differentials, clutches, brakes, electrical systems, fuel systems, couplers, and other parts of material handling equipment and rail car movers.
  • Work with the parts department to order and install replacement parts for machines.
  • Maintain technical knowledge of all equipment brands.
  • Use precision instruments, welding equipment, shop machines, and power tools to make adjustments or repairs.
  • Assist others in the trade and work with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain your own parts inventory based on the parts you carry in your van.
  • Follow all safety protocols and complete required paperwork.
  • Provide excellent customer service and offer additional services as needed.
  • Manage your workload effectively and adapt to changing company or customer needs.
Requirements
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Knowledge of engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, fuel systems, and/or charging systems.
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and ability to quickly learn our software to complete work orders.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a professional image.
Education and Experience
  • High school education.
  • Some vocational or community college with related coursework preferred.
  • 3+ years direct technician experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Lift and carry up to 75lbs frequently.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, crawl/crouch, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery.
  • Visually inspect machines.
