Overview


We welcome new graduate nurses from across the nation to participate in our comprehensive Nurse Residency Program (NRP). This initiative is specifically designed to facilitate the transition from academic learning to the practical responsibilities of a licensed Registered Nurse (RN).

  • St. Luke's Patients Medical Center
  • St. Luke's Sugar Land
  • St. Luke's Vintage
  • St. Luke's The Woodlands Hospital
Responsibilities

All participants in the Nurse Residency Program will receive continuous professional and educational support from a dedicated team of education specialists, nursing leaders, preceptors, and mentors.

Through a combination of in-person and enhanced virtual education, you will develop essential skills such as critical thinking, evidence-based decision-making, stress management, and leadership.

This residency program accelerates nursing competency by providing immersive experiences, education, and support throughout the Nurse Resident's initial year. The curriculum is competency-based and is complemented by trained preceptors and active mentorship, aligning with the standards set by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).

Newly licensed registered nurses (RNs) will benefit from a thorough, evidence-based clinical orientation as part of a 12-month transition-to-practice framework.


At the end of the first year, nurse residents typically report increased self-confidence in delivering high-quality patient care, aligned with the mission, vision, and values of our organization.

Former nurse residents often take on mentorship roles, participate in various nursing councils, and many pursue advanced degrees and certifications.


Qualifications

  • The Nurse Residency Program is open to graduate nurses from accredited nursing schools, preferably with a 3.0 GPA and less than 12 months of professional nursing experience.
  • Required nursing degree:
  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing (BSN) (required)
  • Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) (required) or Bachelors Degree in Nursing (BSN) (preferred)
  • Must have successfully passed the NCLEX prior to the program start date with an unencumbered license.
