Laboratory Phlebotomy Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at CHI St. Joseph's Health. As a Phlebotomist, you will play a critical role in collecting blood samples from patients and other specimen samples, ensuring accurate and timely results. You will work closely with our laboratory team to maintain high-quality standards and provide exceptional patient care.
Responsibilities:
• Collect blood samples from patients and other specimen samples, adhering to laboratory policies and procedures.
• Properly identify patients and label specimens, ensuring accurate and timely results.
• Transport specimens to the laboratory, maintaining a safe and efficient workflow.
• Perform CLIA waived laboratory tests, adhering to all laboratory policies and procedures pertaining to testing, quality control, and proficiency testing.
• Interact with patients in a professional and caring manner, providing information and collecting specimens as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety guidelines and practices.
• Perform daily instrument maintenance and quality control of CLIA waived testing.
• Evaluate and interpret CLIA waived results, entering them into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Organize and stock phlebotomy carts, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.
• Use appropriate methods and supplies for drawing blood, depending on the patient's age, condition, and other factors.
• Complete general duties, including filing, ordering supplies, and packaging reference specimens.
• Follow HIPAA rules and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
• Complete organization requirements and attend mandatory meetings.
• Perform essential functions per ADA position analysis.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
• High School Diploma required.
• Must have legible writing and computer skills.
• Preferred qualifications include a completed phlebotomy course with certification and two (2) years of work-related experience.
