Position Summary:
The Surgical Technician II plays a crucial role in ensuring a sterile environment for surgical procedures. This includes the meticulous arrangement of sterile instruments, assisting surgeons with gowning and gloving, and properly draping patients prior to surgery. The technician is an integral part of the surgical team, providing support during operations by passing instruments, holding retractors, and anticipating the needs of the surgeons throughout the procedure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain the sterile field for surgical operations.
- Assist in the setup of surgical instruments and supplies.
- Support the surgical team by anticipating needs and providing necessary instruments during procedures.
- Manage the distribution of supplies and perform maintenance and testing of equipment as required.
- Adhere to all regulations and policies to ensure patient safety and privacy.
- May assist in training new staff members in departmental procedures.
Qualifications:
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Completion of an accredited surgical technology program or military training as a Scrub Tech.
Certification:
- BLS - Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification.
Experience:
- Minimum of one year of relevant experience in a surgical setting.
Skills:
- Comprehensive knowledge of surgical instruments, procedures, and equipment.
- Ability to interpret various forms of data and instructions.
- Understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Strong communication skills to convey sensitive information effectively.
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Problem-solving skills to address standard issues with established solutions.
- Capability to build effective relationships with healthcare colleagues.
Work Schedule:
Full-time position with a typical schedule of Monday to Friday, working 40 hours per week.
Position Status: Non-Exempt
Compensation:
The pay range for this position is $48.63 to $58.35 per hour, with variations based on experience, education, and location.
