Job Title: Per Diem Counselor

At POSTGRADUATE CENTER FOR MENTAL HEAL, we are seeking a skilled Per Diem Counselor to provide supportive counseling and crisis intervention services to our residents.

Job Summary:

The Per Diem Counselor will provide coverage in the absence of regular employees, ensuring the safety and security of the facility and providing good customer service to residents. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to effectively manage time and situations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor the safety and security of the facility, including video surveillance cameras and conducting hourly building walk-throughs.
  • Provide supportive counseling and crisis intervention services to residents as required.
  • Document significant building activities and events in the Communication Logbook.
  • Perform light maintenance and housekeeping tasks, such as picking up garbage and mopping up spills.
  • Ensure all resident visitors provide identification and sign in the Visitor Log.
  • Conduct monthly fire drills and assess and respond to resident situations, including the utilization of de-escalation techniques.
  • Report crises, untoward incidents, and emergencies immediately to the clinical staff on call and document such events in the program log and incident reports.
  • Escort clients in the community to medical, benefit, or other pertinent appointments.
  • Remain on site until relief staff arrive.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; college degree or 2 years of college in a mental health field desired.
  • Strong customer service skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and situations.
  • Good judgment and ability to appropriately assess and respond to situations.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in emergency situations.
Working Conditions:

The Per Diem Counselor will work in a fast-paced residential setting, providing support to residents and ensuring the safety and security of the facility. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment and demonstrate conflict resolution skills.

Salary:

$17.51 Hourly
