Auto Field Appraiser Job Summary

Kemper is a leading specialized insurer seeking an experienced Auto Field Appraiser to work in the South Los Angeles, CA area. As an Auto Field Appraiser, you will investigate, evaluate, and appraise damaged automobiles and settle claims within an authorized dollar limit.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in a program of formal and on-the-job training through classroom instruction, observing repair work, and staying up-to-date with new repair techniques and procedures.
  • Examine first and third-party vehicle damage in the field, at drive-in locations, or at service centers as assigned, following company photograph guidelines to verify vehicle identity and document current condition/damage.
  • Negotiate repair prices with repair facilities and secure agreed prices for repairs, maintaining a list of company-approved part suppliers to control costs and ensure quality work.
  • Negotiate settlements in a timely manner as assigned, ensuring equitable and fair payment of physical damage losses within authority granted.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma required.
  • 2-3 years of field appraiser experience or 3-5 years of auto repair/body shop experience required.
  • Strong customer service experience required.
  • Good computer skills and planning, organizing, written, and verbal communication skills are essential.
What We Offer:

Kemper is proud to offer a competitive salary range of $48,700.00 to $83,000.00, depending on experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location. This job is also eligible for our Kemper benefits package, including Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, 401k, and more.
