Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant

Carle Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team. As a Certified Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our medical staff in the examination and treatment of patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Room patients, collecting pertinent information regarding their chief complaint, family history, social history, surgical history, and medication reconciliation upon arrival for a patient visit.
  • Complete necessary telephone communications with patients, families, pharmacies, and/or other health care facilities, gathering information and maintaining patient information via telephone per department specific processes and policies.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including patient check-in or check-out, prior authorizations, scheduling appointments, verification of benefits, and coordination of referrals and testing.
  • Assist with prescription medication refills, call medications into pharmacies, notify patients of refills, and document actions within the EMR per provider orders.
  • Maintain department specific competencies related to point of care testing, equipment handling, and specialty training.
Requirements:
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification from a recognized certification body, such as the National Health Career Association (NHA), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), or American Allied Health (AAH).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to learn and retain information, strong customer service skills, compassion and caring in dealing with others, and ability to operate office equipment.
