Requirements
- Basic Life Support BLS certification from the American Heart Association
- 1 year of licensed psychiatric technician experience preferred
- Current and active licensed psychiatric technician license
Psychiatric Nursing Responsibilities
- Provide basic level of general behavioral and psychiatric nursing care to mentally or developmentally disabled patients
- Conduct daily clinical rounds and monitoring of patients with signs and symptoms of mental illness
- Under general supervision of a registered nurse or medical doctor, perform psychiatric nursing procedures, such as administering medications and treatments, including hypodermic injections, taking and charting temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and respiration, and all other basic general nursing procedures within the scope of licensure
