Nurse Practitioner Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. As a Nurse Practitioner, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the advancement of the VA mission.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide evidence-based care for patients with acute and chronic health conditions.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans to achieve optimal population health and disease management.
  • Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care.
  • Order and interpret lab tests, diagnostic studies, and prescribe pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.
  • Initiate referrals and consults to specialty services.
  • Provide education to patients and their families.
  • Assess and adjust the plan of care as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Requirements:
  • Master's or doctoral degree as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted APN license to practice as an NP in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Basic Certification from a nationally recognized certifying body in the area of clinical specialty.
  • Leadership and collaboration skills.
  • Effective communication and professional behavior.
