Job Summary

The Hematologist/Oncologist (Physician) is responsible for managing hematology/oncology procedures, evaluating, diagnosing, consulting, and ordering appropriate diagnostic studies and treatments for Oncology patients. This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) and Recruitment/Relocation Incentive.

Responsibilities
  • Provide consultative evaluations and treatments to patients referred from other sections of the hospital and/or affiliated VA outpatient clinics.
  • Perform administrative functions and other tasks as assigned by the Associate Chief of Staff of Acute Medical Service.
  • Consult on patients referred from other sections of the hospital and affiliated outpatient clinics, as well as provide emergency hematology/oncology services as assigned or designated.
  • Responsible for consultation and administrative duties as assigned by the Associate Chief of Staff of Acute Medicine to meet the needs of the medical center.
Requirements
  • United States Citizenship.
  • Education: Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
  • Licensure and Registration: Physicians must possess a current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • English Language Proficiency: Physicians appointed to direct patient-care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d).
