About the RoleThe Yardperson provides critical support to blast crews and assists with on-bench operations. This entry-level position offers the opportunity to advance to a CDL Driver role, with Orica providing on-the-job training and necessary CDL schooling.
Work Schedule- Monday to Friday
- Home every night
- Local driving (2-3 hours)
- Early morning starts (approx. 4 AM)
- 8-12 hours per day (approx.)
- Overtime may be required
- Contribute to our safety culture by wearing assigned PPE, keeping safety guards on equipment in place, and using equipment safely
- Maintain a clean job site by picking up tools and equipment and securing the site each day
- Load and unload trucks
- Assist other team members when necessary
- Operate mobile equipment on site
- Assist with maintenance tasks, including lubrication, maintenance, and minor repairs
- Organize stock and products within the warehouse
- Maintain accurate records of products stocked
- Verify incoming shipments to ensure accuracy and condition
- Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to the work schedule
- Ability to work from elevated heights
- Mining, quarry, and construction experience a plus
- Experience with hand tools and mechanical aptitude preferred
- Must be prompt and committed to doing great work
- Must have reliable transportation to the job site
- Must be self-motivated and able to work well with others
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move up to 50-70 pounds
- Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
- Must be able to pass a drug test, MVR, and criminal background screening
- Strong organizational skills
- Work environment involves being outside in all types of weather
- Must be able to load product, pull large hoses, fill holes, and climb on/off the truck
- Lifting and carrying 50 pounds or more of product or other materials
- Pushing/Pulling in working with equipment
- Other activities include frequent bending and squatting
