Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist to join our team at HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast. As a Medical Technologist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care by performing various laboratory tests and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine, complex, or specialized bacteriological, hematological, chemical, immunological, serological, and immunoassay procedures on body fluids.
  • Requires no supervision for processing specimens, performing testing, or reporting results.
  • Maintain required competencies in all departments assigned.
  • Demonstrate accuracy for all testing performed.
  • Observe patient safety, risk management, and infection control policies and procedures.
  • Perform related quality control and required proficiency testing according to policy and procedure.
  • Fulfill the duty and responsibility to maintain competence and to continue personal and professional growth.
  • Identify and assist with opportunities for performance improvement activities on the unit and with other service areas.
  • Demonstrate fiscal responsibility by taking ownership of time management, decreasing waste (of time and supplies) and promoting cost effectiveness while maintaining patient safety and quality of care.
  • Demonstrate the ability to be an advocate for and strive to protect the health, safety, and rights of the patient.
  • Interact with patients and colleagues in a compassionate and respectful manner, demonstrating a commitment to the inherent dignity, worth, and uniqueness of every individual.
  • Communicate effectively with other care providers to provide for continuity of patient care and to meet the needs of the customers we serve.
  • Demonstrate ability to fulfill requirements of attendance, punctuality, and timekeeping practices.
  • Behave in a positive, professional manner, demonstrating personal initiative and motivation to achieve the goals of the unit, facility, and organization.
  • Uphold the standards of the profession and organization, practicing ethically and with integrity.
Requirements
  • MT or equivalent certification, or be currently eligible to sit for MT or equivalent certification exam preferred.
  • One year clinical laboratory experience or equivalent clinical lab training preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date, or be qualified under CLIA guidelines for MT/CLS.
