Job Title: Network Design Engineer

Unite Private Networks (UPN) is seeking a highly skilled Network Design Engineer to join our team. As a Network Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing Internet, IP/MPLS, and DWDM systems and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement Internet, IP/MPLS, and DWDM systems and services
  • Plan and engineer network topologies and architectures
  • Deploy and test network equipment and services
  • Provide Tier III support for network issues
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and technologies

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of prior network engineering experience
  • Prior MPLS experience
  • Prior BGP experience
  • Experience provisioning and configuring Cisco service provider equipment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience working on a Service Provider Engineering team
  • Working knowledge of various monitoring protocols (SNMP, Netflow, Syslog, YANG, ICMP, etc...)
  • Experience supporting production/enterprise networks with high availability SLAs
  • Cisco service provider routers and administration (IOS, IOS-XE, IOS-XR based devices)
  • Cisco Optical DWDM systems (NCS2ks, NCS1ks, etc...)
  • Demonstrable skills in the following: Ethernet, IP, DNS, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, DWDM, STP, and L2 switching
  • CCNA or CCNP preferred, not required
  • Metro Ethernet Forum's MEF, MEF 2.0 or MEF 3.0 certification preferred, not required
  • Preferred, experience with Linux systems
  • Preferred, experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Bash Shell
  • Network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting skills
  • Availability to work after hours
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer skills necessary in Word, Excel, and Visio
  • Excellent people skills with ability to handle difficult personnel situations
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
