Position Overview

The Mortgage Sales Assistant reports to the President of Stamford Mortgage and works as a member of our team to ensure a smooth mortgage process, high-touch client communications, and timely outcomes in a fast-paced environment with high volumes of business and tight deadlines. This role requires knowledge of the mortgage process, attention to detail, and the ability to network with clients and referral sources in a professional and friendly manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Answering phone calls and fielding questions from clients, realtors, and attorneys, and directing them to the right person as needed.
  • Assisting clients with onboarding new applications and providing support during the mortgage process, including explaining Loan Estimates and Closing Disclosures.
  • Following up with clients after Next Steps emails and Conditional Approval notifications to ensure they understand the process and deadlines.
  • Providing updates to realtors and attorneys as milestones are reached during the process.
  • Expediting paperwork under deadline, including making calls to clients with repeated questions.
  • Monitoring the pipeline for mortgage contingency and closing deadlines.
  • Assisting with files approaching MC deadlines.
  • Following up with attorneys to ensure timely issuance of Closing Disclosures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in the mortgage process.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of processing and underwriting requirements.
  • Ability to problem-solve.
  • Attention to detail and organization.
