The Procurement Strategy Manager will oversee the strategic procurement of vital materials and supply partnerships, ensuring adherence to procurement standards and practices. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders to align with business objectives and guide them through significant, complex, and high-impact sourcing initiatives. The manager will support the development and implementation of intricate or specialized category strategies, focusing on enhancing value streams through the execution of both short-term and long-term initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and implement strategic procurement strategies aimed at enhancing spending efficiency (cost reductions), optimizing material portfolios, defining processes and tools, and fostering innovation.
  • Collaborate effectively across departments and lead substantial and/or intricate projects and teams. Provide support and cross-training on complex strategy formulation; adapt swiftly to evolving business priorities.
  • Establish cost-reduction objectives through thorough analysis and identification of addressable expenditures while aligning with business goals.
  • Achieve defined savings objectives and cultivate a strong pipeline of feasible projects for future initiatives.
  • Develop, track, manage, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for designated categories and/or supply partnerships.
  • Oversee material inventories, create supply plans, and utilize demand-based mass balances to inform purchasing recommendations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to collaborate on strategy development and drive productivity, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage the supply base to ensure continuity, service, and quality.
  • Oversee procurement ERP systems, ensuring accurate representation of the current supply state; this includes maintaining requirements, verifying purchase orders, managing contract requirements, and monitoring purchasing activities against contractual details for opportunities and issues.
  • Lead sourcing events and strategies; compile expenditure data and conduct category research. Create templates for requests for proposals (RFPs) and collaborate on implementation plans with the procurement team.
  • Draft bid records and waivers for sourcing events as per procurement policies.
  • Monitor purchasing activities against contractual details for opportunities and issues, including contract expirations and compliance thresholds.
  • Address and manage invoice discrepancies, shipping errors, and replacement of materials not meeting company specifications, keeping stakeholders informed throughout the process.
  • Work with stakeholders to identify, document, and resolve sourcing challenges, escalating to management when necessary.
  • Review variance reports and lead resolution efforts.
  • Establish strong stakeholder relationships, ensuring a service-oriented approach and effective capacity analyses and contingency planning.
  • Analyze business challenges and recommend best practices based on specialized procurement and industry knowledge to optimize category opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, supply chain management, or a related field (or equivalent combination of experience and education).
  • 6+ years of progressive experience in procurement, purchasing, sourcing, or related fields, preferably in a multi-plant, matrixed organization.
  • Familiarity with contract administration.
  • Extensive understanding of procurement, supply chain, and general business principles.
  • In-depth knowledge of market and data analysis, supplier risk management, supplier performance, sourcing category strategy development, negotiation strategies, and contract formulation.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and techniques.
