About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Development Officer to join our team at Daniel Murphy Scholarship Fund. As a key member of our Senior Leadership Team, you will be responsible for leading our fundraising efforts and developing a comprehensive development strategy to meet our annual $6M+ fundraising goal.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a strategic development plan to drive philanthropic growth and build strong donor relationships.
  • Lead a high-performing development team and provide mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities.
  • Cultivate and steward individual, corporate, and foundation donors to increase giving levels and retention.
  • Develop and implement effective stewardship practices to ensure ongoing engagement and retention of donors.
  • Research and identify potential major gift prospects and funding opportunities to tailor cultivation strategies.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of nonprofit or education leadership experience, including managing a high-performing fundraising operation.
  • Proven ability to build trust and rapport with boards and volunteers, effectively inspiring and supporting new levels of engagement with fundraising activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to set and attain fundraising and financial goals while controlling costs.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a positive and authentic approach to relationship-building.
  • Unquestioned integrity, ethics, and values, with the ability to be trusted with highly confidential and sensitive information.
What We Offer
  • A competitive annual salary range of $165,000 - $175,000, based on experience and credentials.
  • A comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, dental and vision coverage, and a retirement plan.
  • A hybrid work environment with 3 days per week in our downtown Chicago office, with periodic weekend and evening work required.
