Overview

The AWM Mutual Fund Controllers team plays a crucial role in managing a variety of SEC registered investment entities, which include both open-end and closed-end mutual funds, as well as ETFs. These investment vehicles encompass a diverse range of strategies and products within a dynamic market environment. The team is tasked with overseeing the accounting, finance, and treasury operations associated with these funds.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the financial reporting process in collaboration with external legal advisors, auditors, and fund accounting agents.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies while conducting financial statement analysis, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and IFRS standards.
  • Establish and maintain a robust financial control framework for both internal operations and those of external accounting agents.
  • Conduct extensive analytical procedures on various fund metrics essential for sales, marketing, corporate profitability, and portfolio management.
  • Ensure the accuracy of Fund Net Asset Values through stringent control governance of external accounting agents.
  • Coordinate and supervise major treasury functions of the funds.
  • Analyze fund dividends, providing insights into fluctuations and factors influencing these amounts.
  • Assist in determining fund fees in alignment with the firm's pricing strategy for Registration Statements.
  • Prepare comprehensive written reports for the Board of Trustees and senior management, covering updates on regulatory requirements, accounting policies, and fund statistics.
  • Drive strategic enhancements and process improvements by collaborating with technology teams, gaining exposure to various proprietary and third-party systems.
  • Act as a liaison among portfolio management, tax, legal, and sales teams for new product development and existing fund requirements.
  • Research industry trends and disseminate critical information to relevant teams.

Qualifications

  • Fundamental knowledge of financial products and general market trends.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Self-motivated individual capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly driven with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with analytical tools such as Tableau and Qlik is advantageous.
  • 3-5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA/CFA designation preferred).
