Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Soil Conservation Specialist at the Natural Resources Conservation Service. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing comprehensive natural resources conservation programs that promote sustainable land use and conservation practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with landowners and stakeholders to design and implement conservation systems and practices that address soil erosion, water quality, and other environmental concerns.
  • Provide technical guidance and assistance to landowners and other stakeholders on conservation planning, soil interpretation, and erosion control measures.
  • Develop and implement conservation plans that meet the needs of landowners and stakeholders, while also ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Work with other conservation professionals to identify and address resource concerns on private lands, and to develop and implement conservation programs that promote sustainable land use and conservation practices.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to other team members on conservation planning, soil interpretation, and erosion control measures.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in soil conservation, agronomy, soil science, forestry, agricultural education, or agricultural engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience in soil conservation, conservation planning, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of soil conservation principles, practices, and techniques, as well as federal, state, and local regulations related to conservation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with landowners, stakeholders, and other team members.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to customer service and teamwork.
Working Conditions

The selected candidate will work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent travel to meet with landowners and stakeholders. The position requires the ability to work in a variety of weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and precipitation.
