We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Behavioral Health Technician to join our team at Community Counseling Center. As a Behavioral Health Technician, you will play a vital role in providing direct care to clients with mental health diagnoses, promoting their safety, comfort, and well-being in a therapeutic environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individualized care to clients, including assisting with skill building, participating in groups and social activities, and intervening in crisis situations when needed.
- Promote and educate clients on activities of daily living, including household management and self-care management tasks and responsibilities.
- Teach functional living skills, such as anger management techniques, impulse control, social/communication skills, relaxation skills, and emotional coping skills, based on the client's individual treatment plan.
- Collaborate closely with the treatment team to coordinate client care services and ensure a comprehensive approach to care.
- Complete and chart client observations in accordance with agency policy and procedure.
- Conduct ongoing checks, including personal belongings, room checks, and grounds checks, based on agency policy and procedure.
- Ensure protective oversight of clients, monitor their condition, and follow agency policy and procedure regarding medical emergencies or elopement.
- Transport clients to and from appointments as needed and appropriate.
- Intervene in behavioral health crisis situations when needed.
- Distribute medications and document such based on agency policy and procedure. Immediately report medication errors based on agency protocol.
- Document according to clinical policies and procedures, DMH, CARF, and any other federal or state program per agency standards.
- High School Diploma/GED/HSE required.
- Preference will be given to those with at least two years' experience in Healthcare or Mental Health field or with an undergraduate degree.
- Must hold or obtain by start date, MO Class E Driver's License (Class D for IL Residents), and proof of continuous auto insurance. Must also meet CCC's Motor Vehicle Record standards policy and have reliable transportation.
