Your expertise will be essential in ensuring accurate and timely results, as well as maintaining the highest standards of quality control and patient safety.
Key Responsibilities- Clinical Testing: Perform clinical testing in assigned sections, including general laboratory, Blood Bank, and Microbiology, with a focus on accuracy and timeliness.
- Quality Control: Maintain the highest standards of quality control, including performance improvement, proficiency testing, and preventative maintenance of equipment.
- Result Reporting: Recognize errors or improbable results and take appropriate action, report critical values per policy and procedure, and perform tests within established timeframes.
- Specimen Collection and Handling: Obtain blood specimens via venipuncture and/or fingerstick, accurately identify and label specimens, and follow procedures for processing and testing.
- Laboratory Operations: Perform daily and periodic preventative maintenance, troubleshoot minor problems, and initiate service calls as needed.
- Professional Growth and Development: Take responsibility for seeking and achieving professional growth and continued education, and assist in training new associates and students in laboratory practices.
- Education: Associates Degree or higher in clinical laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution or equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting the requirements defined in the CLIA regulation.
- Experience: No experience required for graduates of a clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited by NAACLS, or other organizations approved by HHS, or six months of approved clinical laboratory experience in the U.S. or with an accredited laboratory within the last 5 years.
- Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications: Louisiana requires State Licensure, and new graduates must be Board Certified or eligible within one year of hire.
