Position Overview

The Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for exercising independent judgment and making decisions regarding a variety of complex financial documents (including invoice vouchers, direct pay vouchers, journal vouchers, travel vouchers, and Purchasing Card Statements) and transactions. This role ensures adherence to federal and state regulations, as well as compliance with Department of Administration (DOA) and agency accounting policies and internal controls. Responsibilities also include communication with staff and vendors to resolve discrepancies related to financial transactions, inputting financial data into the Department's Enterprise Resource Planning System (PeopleSoft), and monitoring the system to maintain the integrity of fiscal data.

Compensation Information

The starting salary for this position is $24.82 per hour, accompanied by an excellent benefits package. The pay schedule and range for this role will be provided during the hiring process.

A 12-month probationary period may be required.

Job Requirements

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship) at the time of application.

The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screenings. Any applicant offered a position requiring a pre-employment drug screen must successfully pass the screening as a condition of employment.

Criminal background checks will be conducted on applicants prior to selection. Upon hiring, all new employees are subject to fingerprinting.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess knowledge of contemporary bookkeeping, accounting, and auditing practices and principles; proficiency in the MS-Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access), state accounting systems, and the Internet; the ability to comprehend and follow complex written and oral instructions; effective communication skills, both verbal and written; the capacity to establish and maintain productive working relationships with colleagues, officials, and the public; and the ability to identify issues and apply problem-solving techniques.
