Job Overview

This Equipment Operator II position is a vital part of the County of Oconee's maintenance team, responsible for operating heavy equipment to ensure the smooth operation and upkeep of our facilities and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities
  • Operate a variety of heavy equipment, including dump trucks, roll-off trucks, motor graders, bulldozers, front-end loaders, skid steers, bush hogs, compactors, trailers, grinders, tractors, low boys, mowers, and balers.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Assist staff with maintenance and repair duties as needed, providing technical expertise and guidance.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to achieve team goals, sharing knowledge and best practices to improve efficiency and productivity.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field (e.g., mechanics, engineering, construction).
  • Valid CDL-Class B with Airbrakes and no restrictions.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using hand and power tools, as well as computer software and hardware.
Work Environment

This position involves working in various outdoor environments, including extreme temperatures, noise, and physical hazards. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and walk on uneven terrain.
