Job Summary

We are seeking a Registered Nurse House Supervisor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for directing and supervising patient care throughout the assigned shift, assessing and arranging for the needs of the on-coming shift, and maintaining adherence to policy and procedure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver nursing care in compliance with nursing standards of care and practice.
  • Makes decisions on a variety of unit and department personnel needs, meeting patient care requirements and financial expectations.
  • Integrates the department into the primary functions of the hospital by cooperating with other departments and services.
  • Demonstrates administrative effectiveness by assuring adequate staffing for all shift personnel, advising and supporting unit staff nurses in prioritizing needs.
  • Demonstrates good judgment and decision-making ability by basing decisions on long-term as well as immediate needs, appropriately initiating emergency care and measures according to policy and procedure.
  • Demonstrates initiative and resourcefulness in the use of own time and delegation of work to complete assignments.
  • Demonstrates supervisory skill by appropriately directing staff activities, meeting with staff to resolve problems, and assisting in the evaluation of employees.
  • Participates actively in the functions of the department by meeting and committee membership and attendance.
Requirements
  • Currently registered in the State of Virginia, or eligible for licensure.
  • Prefer Baccalaureate Degree.
  • Five (5) years of previous nursing experience in an acute care setting and six (6) months of learning time on the job for a total of five and one half-years.
  • Must maintain BLS and ACLS certifications.
