Job Summary:

As a MRI Technologist at Midstate Radiology Associates, you will operate advanced imaging equipment and perform diagnostic and therapeutic MRI procedures on patients to assist physicians in diagnosis and treatment. You will follow established protocols and procedures to ensure high-quality images and patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Perform diagnostic MRI scanning procedures, selecting the correct technique and utilizing patient assessment to produce accurate images.
  2. Participate in complex invasive MRI exams, assisting radiologists in performing procedures using sterile technique and producing images for therapeutic and diagnostic purposes.
  3. Start intravenous sites, assess existing sites, and inject contrast according to established protocols to assist radiologists in diagnosis.
  4. Maintain MRI equipment in good operating order, cleaning and disinfecting after each use and reporting any hazardous conditions or equipment breakdowns to supervisors.
  5. Demonstrate yearly competencies, including knowledge and behaviors, to conduct examinations and meet patient needs.
  6. Assess physician orders and patient requisitions for completeness, reviewing requisitions, laboratory results, and patient charts to ensure correct procedures and protocols.
  7. Document patient and exam information, storing computerized images on archive media for future reference or retrieval.
  8. Prepare examinations for radiologist interpretation, setting up films properly in PACS systems and accurately inputting data in RIS systems.
  9. Perform and document weekly quality assurance testing on equipment according to established protocols to maintain high performance.
  10. Work effectively as a team member within the department and with other units to provide quality service through communication, cooperation, and collaboration.
  11. Provide clinical supervision and instruction to students, maintaining understanding of policies, procedures, and clinical competency processes.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an AMA-approved radiology program.
  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT).
  • CT state license.
  • CPR certification may be required.
  • Maintenance of continuing education credits as required by licensure.

Desirable qualifications include at least one year's experience as a radiological technologist and an associate's or applied science degree in a related field.

Knowledge and skills required include working knowledge applicable to radiological technology, patient care standards, quality assurance principles, customer service principles, OSHA principles, and TJC standards of practice.

Special conditions may include rotating on night, weekend, and/or holiday call schedules, covering ancillary offices, and exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
