Job Title: Banquet Server

At Wellengood Partners, we are seeking a skilled Banquet Server to join our team at The Westin Memphis Beale Street. As a Banquet Server, you will play a vital role in ensuring our guests have an exceptional dining experience.

Job Summary:

The Banquet Server is responsible for serving food and beverage to guests according to brand food standards. This includes setting tables with linen, silverware, china, and other essentials, as well as cleaning tables after food service and removing linens, silverware, and china to the kitchen area.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment.
  • Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day.
  • Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
  • Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
  • Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of service requirements for assigned function.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and strictly abide by state liquor regulations.
  • Complete pre-function job responsibilities, including setting up side stations and retrieving alcoholic beverage items from the bar.
  • Serve all food courses and non-alcoholic beverage items to guests in accordance with function requirements.
  • Clear each course following procedures.
  • Remove all tabletop items, linen, and equipment from the function room as designated by function requirements.
  • Set up, monitor, refresh, and breakdown coffee breaks, receptions, and buffet tables for specified functions according to group requirements.
  • Complete closing side duties, including breaking down all goods, cleaning equipment, and restocking items for the next service.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 21 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages - state alcohol certification is required.
  • 1 year(s) experience as a Restaurant or Banquet Food Server.
  • Must be able to work days, nights, weekends, holidays, during various shifts. Flexible Scheduling in a hotel environment.
  • Must have good understanding of the English language.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional demeanor.
  • Compute basic arithmetic.
  • Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy.
  • Prioritize and organize tasks.
  • Be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment.
  • Follow directions thoroughly.
  • Understand guest service needs.
  • Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data.
  • Must adhere to all safety and cleaning standards.
Physical Demands:
  • Exert physical effort in lifting/transporting at least 50 pounds.
  • Push/pull cart and other equipment up to 250 pounds.
  • Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas.
  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8-hours or more in length.
  • Satisfactorily communicate with guests, management, and co-workers to their understanding.
