As a Lead Standards and Guides Engineer at OGE Energy, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing engineering standards, policies, and guidelines that ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and good engineering practices. This position requires a strong technical background in engineering, excellent communication and leadership skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain engineering standards, policies, and guidelines to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and good engineering practices.
- Communicate with regulatory bodies and government agencies to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Lead and direct the work of engineers and other technical staff to ensure successful project completion.
- Plan, prioritize, conduct, and lead assignments to ensure timely completion and high-quality results.
- Serve as a resource for members with less experience and provide technical guidance and support as needed.
- Meet with the general public, developers, landowners, and interest groups to discuss zoning, subdivision projects, building projects, and engineering regulations, standards, or policies.
- Provide technical presentations to elected officials, appointed boards/commissions, the public, and staff to ensure effective communication and stakeholder engagement.
- Manage budgets, schedules, and resources for small to medium-sized projects to ensure successful completion and high-quality results.
- Review and critique proposed changes to engineering standards, policies, and guidelines to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and good engineering practices.
- Review development plans for compliance with adopted engineering standards and good engineering practices.
- Conduct surveys to gather field data and prepare and interpret schematics, drawings, layouts, and other visual aids to support project completion.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 6 years of related engineering experience (at least 4 years as an Engineer and a maximum of 2 years related experience which may include non-Engineer experience such as Engineering Internship, Design, Drafting, and Engineering Tech experience).
- Valid State Driver's License.
- Professional Engineer designation.
- May require travel.
- May be required to work non-standard work schedules.
- May be exposed to extreme conditions and inclement weather.
- May be required to work at heights up to and exceeding thirty (30) feet, underground, and in confined spaces.
- Exceptional communication skills (oral, written, and presentation).
