Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to join our team at Advocate Health. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms and providing exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain aseptic surgical environments, including setting up and sterilizing equipment and supplies.
  • Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists during surgical procedures, including passing instruments and supplies.
  • Monitor and maintain a safe and efficient operating room environment, including managing equipment and supplies.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure seamless communication and coordination during procedures.
  • Provide exceptional patient care and support, including positioning and transporting patients.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, including inventory management and equipment maintenance.
Requirements
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months of hire.
  • Advanced training beyond high school, including completion of an accredited or approved program in Surgical Technology.
  • 1 year of experience in an operating room setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn new software and systems.
Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with frequent exposure to blood and body fluids. The successful candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, push/pull with 30 pounds of force, and perform a sliding transfer of 150 pounds with a second person present.
