Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at GE Aviation. As a key member of our Advanced Technologies Organization, you will play a critical role in the design and development of advanced jet engines, components, and integrated systems that power commercial and military aircraft.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and integrate mechanical designs for assigned hardware, ensuring compliance with program and internal design requirements.
  • Collaborate with diverse teams from multiple disciplinary functions, including thermal design, aero design, and systems design.
  • Communicate risks and design trade-offs to stakeholders, driving collective decisions on design approaches.
  • Create innovative solutions that benefit assigned hardware and overall module, meeting broad design objectives.
  • Complete design reviews, drawing releases, quality requirements, assembly analyses, and other activities.
  • Suggest areas for technology advancements and recommend approaches to implement those advancements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Mechanical Design Engineering for aerospace propulsion systems, such as rotors, structures, or airfoil component design.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in mechanical design for aerospace propulsion systems, such as rotors, structures, or airfoil component design.
  • Collaborative style, valuing and enhancing diversity of teams.
  • Experience in solving mechanical design problems.
  • Master's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Established self-prioritization skills.
