Job Summary

Airgas is seeking a highly skilled Production Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day activities of a production segment within our industrial, specialty, and medical distribution and gas filling operations. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our Acetylene plant and flammable plant operations, as well as maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of production staff to ensure efficient and safe operation of the plant
  • Manage gas cylinder processing, ultrasonic testing, and compliance with FDA, DOT, OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements
  • Assist with troubleshooting and maintenance of plant equipment and machinery
  • Partner with other plant supervisors to ensure smooth day-to-day operations and promote a strong safety culture
  • Assign tasks to workers based on customer needs, current stock levels, and worker expertise
  • Study production schedules and estimate worker-hour requirements for completion of job assignments
  • Implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality
  • Train new workers and cross-train employees to ensure continuity of production during personnel shortages
  • Provide assistance to the Flammable Plant Manager with planning and managing capital investments
  • Coordinate inventory levels of supplies and equipment
Requirements
  • High school degree or equivalent required; associate's degree or technical degree/certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a leadership role within a distribution environment; prior technical experience with compressed gases, gas analysis, and gas lab equipment preferred
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to leverage metrics and tools to improve production efficiency and effectiveness
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Work Environment

Airgas is a dynamic and fast-paced work environment that requires the ability to work in a variety of settings, including indoor and outdoor environments. The successful candidate will be required to stand, bend, stoop, crouch, reach, grasp, feel, and talk or hear regularly. The ability to lift and move up to 60 pounds and move up to 125 pounds with the aid of material handling equipment is also required.
