Job Summary:
As a Nursing Attendant at Kaiser Permanente, you will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician to perform a variety of patient care functions. Your responsibilities will include providing care to patients in accordance with established standards of care, policies, and procedures. You will also be expected to demonstrate performance consistent with the Medical Center Vision, Mission, and Strategic Plan.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership: Uphold Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures, principles of responsibilities, and applicable state, federal, and local laws.
- Demonstrate a professional, supportive attitude and identify and support new ideas.
- Utilize effective communication strategies, including chain of command and issue escalation, to achieve intended outcomes.
- Participate in problem identification and resolution in collaboration with the Registered Nurse.
- Prioritize work assignments to ensure completion of patient care activities and notify the Registered Nurse if unable to complete assignments.
- Comply with regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
- Nursing Process: Correctly identify patients and scheduled procedures, perform patient care activities within the scope of competency, and consider age-related needs of the patient as assigned.
- Report unusual findings to the Registered Nurse.
- Collect data and provide information in a timely manner to the Registered Nurse to assist in revising the plan of care.
- Discuss discharge barriers with the Registered Nurse and take intervention as directed.
- Adhere to hospital standards that customize care for age-related needs of the population served.
- Keep healthcare team members informed about patient responses to interventions within their scope of competency.
- Documentation: Charting is legible, dated, and signed, and documentation reflects data collection within the scope of competency.
- Documentation is complete for activities performed.
- Clinical Outcomes: Apply standard precautions and maintain a safe environment for self and others.
- Observe patient/family conditions and report sudden changes or unusual findings to the Registered Nurse.
- Demonstrate competencies during the probationary period and ongoing by completion of departmental competency validation.
- Transport patients, equipment, supplies, and specimens throughout the medical center using proper body mechanics.
- Participate in departmental performance improvement activities, including planning, measuring/monitoring, assessing, and improving, and utilize computer systems effectively and efficiently.
